Sunday School
Sunday School Director: Neil Matlock
The primary purpose of Sunday School at Castlewood Baptist Church is to provide an opportunity to hear God's Word, to hear God's plan of salvation through Jesus Christ, to study God's Word and learn how to apply it to daily life, and to provide involvement for small group care and fellowship.
In Summary the purpose of Sunday school is:
1. Evangelism – to teach the Gospel.
2. Fellowship – encouragement and support.
3. Worship – recognizing who God is.
4. Discipleship – leading the lost to God.
5. Ministry – caring for our members.
In Sunday school persons of all ages learn about God, the Bible and God's will for each person's life. The Bible is the Christian's "handbook for life." Within its pages we learn about what's right and what's wrong. We see examples of people who followed God and those who rejected His leading. And, we learn about Jesus Christ, His teaching, and the Way of Salvation that is available through Him.
Sunday school is age specific. We currently use Life Way literature to teach the Bible. Preschoolers do no understand sin and grace, but do understand love and Jesus’ love for them. Adults on the other hand can understand sin, grace and many other Christian concepts. And, the problems and concerns that junior high students face is much different from those of senior citizens. That's why, in Sunday school, we divide students according to their age so that they can get the maximum benefits from each lesson.
Sunday school at Castlewood also promotes fellowship. We all need friends. We all need Christian friends, persons that we can share with, confide in, laugh with and are accountable to. And, Sunday school is one of the best places to see such Christian relationships develop.
Sunday school also helps class members find a place of service to help them grow in their faith. There are opportunities for service as teachers and leaders in the Sunday school. There are also opportunities for mission involvement through projects carried on through the Sunday school.
We cordially invite you to attend our Sunday school at 9:30am each Sunday. We have a class for you. Baby through senior adult, we have classes for all ages.
